Tanzania
Tap water situation
In general, tap water in Tanzania is not considered safe to drink without treatment. It is advised to boil the water or use filtration systems before consuming it. Due to varying standards and infrastructure development, water quality can vary significantly across different regions of the country. In urban areas, where infrastructure might be more developed, there may be some access to treated water, but caution is still advised. In rural areas, drinking untreated tap water could lead to waterborne diseases. The Ministry of Water is the government body responsible for water quality at a national level.
