Tap water situation
The safety of drinking tap water in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is generally questionable, and it is often advised to avoid drinking tap water without proper treatment or consumption of bottled water. Water quality can significantly vary between urban and rural areas, and even within different urban regions. The government body responsible for water quality at a national level is the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and inconsistent maintenance continue to affect water safety and reliability throughout the country.
